Well Mom is having a great time and the campaign is coming to an end towards the end of June. She will have 4 days or so between Malawi and Uganda to take a 'vacation'. She asked me to ask you (her friends) for help planning her vacation. She does not have internet access to look for herself and does not know really where to go. She has heard of a game preserve in Zambia, but does not know the cost, what she would need other than a passport, etc. She also hears great things about Lake Malawi.
So here is your assignment...she is asking for ideas, so maybe you can give her a few suggestions by commenting on this post. I will then summarize them and pass them along via phone in the next week or so. It cannot be too expensive and as I mentioned she has only 4 days or so. I am looking forward to your replies.

Hi Carolyn
ReplyDeleteWe love reading about your adventures via Erik's blog..wow, you are right in the thick of things.
Is it very hot ?? We think of you often and admire you so for doing this wonderful, humanitarian things, Thank GOD for people like you.
We have heard wonderful things about Lake Malawi. We would suggest staying on the Lake, as traveling takes so much time and if you only have 4 days.
In what part of Malawi are you.. North, South or Central. There seems to be some very nice accommodations for around $120/night (this includes meals, beach, boat tours etc..)
If this sounds good, we can research the area and send you some specific lodges etc.
Stay safe and know we are all thinking of you everyday.
Love
Gail and Dana
Carolyn- 4 freedays! I would suggest Mumbo Island in Lake Malawi. Clean, green, ecoltourism. Clean drinking water, no electricity, ?grass huts. Not near areas where you expect Bilharzia (stay away from water near villages, reedy or swampy areas). Scuba and snorkeling, kayaking, 2 1/2hr from Lilongwe, good transportation by motor boat or kayak. Yee haw, Love, Judy
